Every year, National Small Business Week (NSBW) recognizes the contributions of small businesses to the economy and communities across the U.S. Organized by the Small Business Administration (SBA), this week-long event celebrates entrepreneurs, highlights their achievements, and provides valuable resources to help small businesses thrive.
For 2025, NSBW is set to take place from May 4 – 10, and feature a mix of virtual and in-person events, including networking sessions, educational webinars, and awards recognizing outstanding small business owners. These activities are designed to empower business owners with insights on funding, marketing, and business growth strategies.
A week-long celebration of the economy’s backbone
Small businesses actually mean huge business for the economy. They account for nearly 44% of all U.S. economic activity and employ over 61 million Americans*. Recognizing and supporting them not only strengthens local economies but also fosters innovation and job creation.
How your business can make the most of Small Business Week
If you’re a small business owner, there are plenty of ways you can get involved in this exciting week:

- Leverage social media: Use the official hashtag #SmallBusinessWeek to share your story, promote special offers, and connect with other entrepreneurs.
- Explore resources: The SBA and other organizations offer free tools and mentorship programs to help small businesses grow beyond NSBW.
By participating, you’ll not only gain knowledge but also connect with a wider audience that appreciates and supports small businesses.
Honoring small businesses making a big impact
One of the highlights of National Small Business Week is recognizing entrepreneurs who have made a lasting impact in their communities. Past winners have included everything from family-run bakeries to tech startups revolutionizing their industries.
Small businesses don’t just create jobs — they shape the culture and identity of their communities. Whether it’s a local coffee shop that serves as a neighborhood hub or a boutique that sources goods from local artisans, these businesses enrich daily life.
