California Bank & Trust (CB&T), a leading financial institution serving businesses and individuals across California, is proud to announce it has been named one of the 2025 “Companies That Care” by the San Diego Business Journal. This recognition honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to their employees, communities and corporate social responsibility.
Strengthening its communities is one of CB&T’s core values and is demonstrated through the bank’s active contribution to local nonprofits, participation in volunteer activities that uplift the areas where it operates, and support of educational programs for individuals and businesses alike. CB&T earned this distinction in part due to its impactful community partnerships, including its role as a founding partner and Official Bank of San Diego FC (SDFC). Through this collaboration, CB&T aims to launch youth leadership and financial literacy programs that serve underrepresented communities across the region. These initiatives provide young people with access to mentorship, financial literacy education and personal development opportunities, empowering the next generation with tools for long-term success.
CB&T’s community impact is far-reaching. Through its Community Development Grant Program, the bank supports organizations revitalizing low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, with a focus on small business development and economic empowerment.
This year, CB&T raised nearly $95,000 through its annual Giving Campaign in partnership with United Way, benefiting over 100 nonprofit organizations across California. San Diego-based associates contributed hundreds of volunteer hours to local causes, including Feeding San Diego, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the San Diego Humane Society, Serving Seniors and the San Diego LGBT Community Center. These efforts were part of CB&T’s broader Give Week initiative, which positively impacted 42 nonprofit organizations statewide in 2024.
CB&T also launched the CB&T Growth Academy statewide this year, facilitating a business accelerator program in conjunction with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), designed to support underrepresented women entrepreneurs with training in finance, operations, marketing and leadership.
“Being recognized as one of the Companies That Cares by the San Diego Business Journal is a meaningful acknowledgement of our long-standing commitment to the communities we serve.” said President and CEO of California Bank & Trust Eric Ellingsen.
